Visit Krakow, the cultural capital of Poland, Auschwitz-Birkenau camps and salt mine in Wieliczka

Daily program

Day 1

Arrive in Krakow and transfer to the hotel*** in city centre. Dinner in the Old Town.

Day 2

Sightseeing tour in Krakow, the second largest city in Poland with history going back to the medieval times. In the 11th century it became Poland’s capital and functioned as seat for Polish rulers for the following five centuries. Nowadays, Krakow is Poland’s centre for art, science and culture. During the 3 hour walk we will visit the largest medieval market in Europe with St. Mary’s church and the gothic masterpiece of art – wooden altar created by Veit Stoss in the 15th century. We will not miss the bugle call – Krakow’s musical symbol played from the church tower every hour. We will then see the complex of buildings belonging to the Jagiellonian University founded 1364 and continue to the Wawel hill – high rock in the middle of the city where the castle and cathedral are located. The castle is the former royal residence built in renaissance style. Nearby stands the cathedral in which Polish kings were crowned and buried.

Day 3

After breakfast we travel to visit the amazing world of salt in Wieliczka. The salt mine is almost 800 years old; the total length of the underground passages exceeds 250 km. Our route begins 64 m under the earth and continues 2,5 km through chambers and  richly decorated chapel of saint Kinga to the 3rd level, 135 m below the ground. Lunch in Wieliczka after the visit. Back in Krakow appr. 2 p.m. In the afternoon we offer an optional tour to Auschwitz-Birkenau.

Day 4

Breakfast. Transfer to the airport in Krakow (or other city) for departure.
